UK Garden Designer works closely with major independent UK landscape and garden design professionals, through English Garden Design Associates. All Associates have Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance.
The following Associates provide increased local coverage within the UK and augment the skills and experience of the UK Garden Designer team. We asked each Associate to describe their specialities in their own words.
Influence from art teachers Jack Coulthard painting and space shape drawings, Tom Prater drawings & sculpture, my own painting and I have a sculptor's understanding of space and the use of the art suppliers Tiranti London stone carving tools. Also part time teaching sculpture at Taunton Art College, with the influence from Eric Estorick and his wife former owners of the Grosvenor Gallery Grosvenor Square in London who purchased some of my sculpture, developed my understanding of space and spatial design proportions. Following this I ran my own landscape firm in Sidmouth Devon. Lucy Huntington FSGD who lived near Taunton was commissioned by some of my clients in Devon to design their gardens. After that I became a full time garden designer having attended her and Robin Williams FSGD Cert GD course. In 1991 was successful in an application for Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designer for MSGD. The tutors included Anthony Archer Wills the international water specialist.
The National Certificate Horticulture was gained at Cannington College Somerset on a year course previous to my art influences.
In 2006 I had drawn a plan for the new boundary frontage of Belfield House, Grade 2, Weymouth, Dorset, that required listed planning permission. Part of the brief was to get the approval of the Conservation officer who loved the design based on classicism also the proportions tied into the house. Planning don't require well drawn or written plans and tell clients who enquire about the cost of designer drawn plans. As Dartmoor National Park Authority in 2002 re application No 0529/02 informed a client of mine. Planning authority is government law.
Planning Applications Conservation and Listed Building - As Dartmoor National Park Authority in 2002 re application No 0529/02 informed a client of mine that they "don't require well drawn plans" - "See well drawn drawing with good writing with the planning application listed listed here."
