Attending to the
smallest detail to ensure success of the whole
The classical garden is
architecture using a combination of living forms and inanimate structures. As
with all forms of architecture, success can only be achieved by controlling the
detail that enhances the architecture of the building.
These 3 photographs illustrate spatial awareness in this classical garden design. Both curved paths married with curved evergreen hedges locate opposite each other on plan. Evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs flow informally and formally together. Centred by the two sets of classically proportioned steps that relate in harmony to the top pond proportions. Classical design looks misleadingly simple. Desired results require exact measurements.
